After Patrick Costello led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, Don opened the busy meeting. Our special guests included Patrick, Miles Cambridge and Dick Towle. / The group sounded great today as they sang Happy Birthday to Debbie. / Don informed us of some of the approved projects: a sign for the Essex Recreation Department, a new backstop for a field in Essex, improving the Masconomo park bandstand, painting at Singing Beach, providing food for musical shows during the summer, prom night transportation, a Texas Hold ' Em tournament (watch out for those lawyers and police chiefs gambling!) and a clothing drive. / The next Open Door at the Cape Ann Food Pantry will be Wednesday February 21st. / Debbie told us all about the GSE welcome dinner on March 14th at The Landing. / The 5 year anniversary dinner will be held at The Landing on February 22nd and it is $36.00 per person. Spouses and significant others are welcome. Don't forget those photos! / Our speaker, Dick Towle from the Federal Railway Administration gave us a very informative presentation on train safety. He told us all about the measures being taken to prevent train tragedies. It made us all think about our own driving behavior when it comes to trains. And I think we can all agree that between cars and trains ... trains will always win. / Next week we have a Valentine's Day surprise speaker! Debbie promises that it will be well worth attending!
